Originally commissioned by The Sydney Theatre Company in 2006, "GRONKS" was inspired by true stories surrounding the Redfern and MacQuarie Fields riots in 2005 as well as numerous stories of community and domestic violence. The play also examines universal tensions between lower socio-economic communities and local police. All you need is one ‘gronk’ to spark the fire of hatred.

Written and directed by Zeal collaborators Tom Lycos and Stefo Nantsou, "GRONKS" boasts an all-star cast of Karen Lantry, Lisa Maza, Billy MacPherson, Rob Dilley, Tom Lycos & Stefo Nantsou.

"GRONKS" premiered in Sydney in 2007, has played seasons at the Wharf 2 Theatre and the Fairfax Studio in Melbourne, will tour Victorian schools with the Regional Arts Victoria in 2008 and will be available for further schools and theatre touring in the future.

Commissioned by The Sydney Theatre Company.
